We have already reported several times about our construction site on route 1522 between Oldenburg and
Rastede at the Alexanderstraße level crossing. There are two consortia for this project: the construction consortium (Infra-Nordwest, Infra-Rail and an external partner) and the noise protection consortium (Infra-Lärmschutz and Infra-Nordwest).
Today we will be focussing on the noise protection ARGE and the special noise barriers made of acrylic glass.
The contract includes the construction of 11,400 m² of noise barriers, which corresponds to an area of more than 44 tennis courts. In addition to aluminium elements, acrylic glass elements will also be used. The retaining walls were erected over a length of 1.58 kilometres and have a height of between 5m and 9.5m. As part of the planning approval process and following a dialogue with local residents, DB InfraGO decided to use the more unusual material. The acrylic glass walls serve to minimise the shading of the directly affected residents.
The contract for the noise protection ARGE includes a total of 1.58 km of retaining wall and 110 m of railway bridge with 700 posts with base plates on the retaining walls and the bridge as well as
1.1km of open track with 200 foundation posts, 200 foundation pipes and concrete base elements.
‘In order to construct the retaining walls and railway overpass, the active track had to be relocated next to the actual route as a bypass during the entire construction period. This bypass track was equipped with a noise barrier for the construction period to protect residents from the noise of the railway traffic. As soon as the work is completed, both the track and the noise barrier will be removed,’ reports Benjamin Raschke, site manager at Eiffage Infra-Lärmschutz.
