Working together for more environmental protection
Potential for environmental protection arises, among other things, when environmentally friendly building materials are selected or various construction processes are changed. Various projects in which we at Eiffage Infra-Bau are involved show how construction processes can have a positive impact on the environment. Renaturalisation measures, for example, can enhance biotopes that are not biologically valuable in order to increase biodiversity. Railway and wind power projects also help us to preserve and protect our environment.
Of course, environmental impacts can also be reduced at our administrative sites. We achieve this, for example, by avoiding business trips and reducing water and paper consumption.
The commitment of our employees is essential if we are to achieve our goals. They are sensitised to the issues of environmental protection and sustainability as part of training courses and internal campaigns. After all, we can only really make a difference if everyone is involved.
Climate protection
In order to meet the 2-degree target of the Paris Climate Conference and slow down climate change, a fundamental rethink is required. As one of the leading construction companies, we want to set a good example and reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.
For this reason, it is a matter of course for us to switch our power supply to renewable energies. Our branches and asphalt mixing plants as well as our large construction sites are therefore supplied with green electricity. We are also working on equipping our sites with photovoltaic systems. The energy generated in this way also helps to reduce CO2 emissions.
The proportion of the electricity generated that we do not consume directly is to be used to charge electric vehicles in the medium term. We are currently in the planning phase for a comprehensive charging infrastructure, which will make it possible to restructure our vehicle fleet.
We have already made great progress with our construction site vehicles. By continuously investing in our machinery over the past few years, we have ensured that our machine fleet is state-of-the-art. As emission values play a decisive role in the purchase of new construction machinery, we have already achieved considerable reductions in this area.
