Reconstruction of the two harbour bridges over the Main-Danube Canal and over the South-West Bypass / A 73:

  • 20,000 m³ of excavated soil
  • 12,000 m³ of backfill
  • approx. 4,000 m of bored piles (Ø 1.2 m)
  • 7,500 m³ reinforced concrete
  • 2,100 tonnes of reinforcing steel
  • 4,900 tonnes of structural steel
  • Joint venture with SEH Engineering GmbH and Mostostal Krakow S.A.
  • The bridge structure over the Main-Danube Canal consists of an overhead, single-piece steel superstructure with a spatial truss structure and box-shaped stiffening girders. This construction method allows the bridge superstructure to be pre-assembled away from the traffic routes. It is then swung or floated into position in its pre-assembled state. This significantly reduces the closure times for road traffic and shipping operations.
  • The bridge over the South-West Bypass is also being constructed with a height offset to ensure the best possible maintenance of traffic flow.
  • Upon completion, both bridges will each have two lanes in both directions (into and out of the city), as well as a combined footpath and cycle path.
