A switchyard for high- and extra-high-voltage power lines is being built on a site covering around 115,000 m². Eiffage Infra-Spezialtiefbau is constructing the bored pile foundations for three replacement pylons on the 220/380 kV power line.
A particular challenge in this project was the contamination of the soil due to previous unauthorised backfilling of pits with various types of waste on the site. Furthermore, the drilling took place directly beneath the operational 380 kV power lines, which meant that a short-mast version of a drilling rig from the company’s own fleet had to be used.
In this project, Heinrich Walter Bau GmbH was responsible for the engineering and civil engineering works and carried out the foundation works for the replacement pylons and switchgear, as well as the soil remediation and waterproofing.
