Demolition and reconstruction of the Krondorf viaduct near Velburg on the A3 Nuremberg–Regensburg motorway, which is just over 50 years old, due to its poor condition, ever-increasing traffic volumes and the resulting need for additional load-bearing capacity. Refurbishment is not possible due to the existing damage and load-bearing capacity deficits.
The existing bridge will be demolished in two construction phases and rebuilt using the incremental launching method.
The new beam bridge will be constructed as a continuous girder spanning nine spans, with spans ranging from 30 to 60 metres. In total, the structure will have an impressive length of 475 metres and will span the valley at a height of approximately 40 metres.
