From the early hours of Saturday 29 August 26 until 4 am next Thursday, 10 September 26, our civil engineering and railway construction teams will have nothing else on their minds but the railway viaduct in Hersbruck💪. Because it’s track closure time!
Work began last weekend with the excavation and demolition work, as well as the anchor drilling and grouting. This was immediately followed by the next highlight, which we naturally couldn’t miss: the erection of the 500-metric-tonne crane on Monday, 31 August 26 – and we were there live for the first photo shoot on site, powered by Richard Vogel from Baumedien. The next instalment is coming up as early as next Tuesday, 8 September 26, when the track spans and large points components will be installed . You can get a little taster in the pictures below – we guarantee you’ll be looking forward to the full photo shoot🤩.
The construction project at a glance:
- Renovation of the railway viaduct on the double-track line between Nuremberg Central Station and Schirnding and the single-track line between Hersbruck and Pommelsbrunn, including superstructure works and the crossing of the Hersbruck canal, as well as a pedestrian underpass and lighting
- Construction period: November 2025 – April 2027 (main works to take place during a 10-day full closure)
- Project value: €1.9 million
Our huge THANKS go to our sister company Eiffage Infra-Rail, which went out of its way to provide us with a tamping machine. It will be in action on 9 September 2026 from 4 am – yet another highlight👏! It’s GREAT to have such a strong Eiffage family behind us♥️.
We wisheveryone involved in the project continued success and an accident-free construction period🍀. We’re incredibly proud of you all and take our hats off – or rather, our helmets – to your tremendous achievement!
