Since Monday, 14 September 26, train services have resumed at our construction site in Hersbruck. Following the end of the closure period and the test and load-testing runs over the weekend , all signals were green, meaning the line could be opened for rail operations on schedule✅.
It was a frantic rush for our project team right up to the last minute , and everyone gave their all to achieve this goal together🤝 . This collective effort knew no bounds, as every possible resource was mobilised , even beyond the Bavarian border . The tamping machine from our sister company, Eiffage Infra-Rail GmbH, carried out precise work on the final day of the track closure👏. For any of you who aren’t track builders: what exactly is a tamping machine? A tamping machine is used in track construction to correct or level the position and stability of the track:
- It lifts the track slightly,
- aligns it to the correct height and lateral position,
- compacts the ballast beneath the sleepers using so-called tamping picks,
- thereby creating an even and load-bearing foundation for the sleepers that can withstand the enormous loads of the trains.
The highlights of the track closure were captured in two photo shoots, including the installation of a time-lapse camera – powered by Richard Vogel from Baumedien. We were given a little sneak peek two weeks ago, but now that the work is done , the satisfaction is all the greater – and @dear project team, you can and absolutely must be proud of yourselves, because we certainly are♥️.
