The Mona Mare all-weather swimming pool in Monheim am Rhein is currently being extensively renovated and significantly extended. The TGA team from Eiffage Infra-Hochbau is responsible for the sanitary and heating technology in this major project.

The town of Monheim am Rhein is investing in the future of its leisure facilities - with this project costing around 46 million euros, the aim is to create significant added value for residents. The pretty little town is located between Düsseldorf and Cologne and the renovated Mona Mare with its saltwater and wave pool, numerous slides and waterfall is set to become a popular attraction for young and old alike.

This leisure attraction is open all year round and therefore naturally poses particular challenges in terms of energy efficiency and sustainability. The Eiffage Infra-Hochbau TGA team took on this task - with a total contract value of 1.8 million euros. The intention was to use customised technical solutions to take into account all environmental aspects and to make a significant contribution to the future feel-good ambience of the new bathroom with high-quality fittings.

Sophisticated technology at the highest level

For the heat supply, the existing system was modernised and brought up to the latest technical standards. Among other things, a total of 1,400 metres of heating pipes were laid. Heat is now distributed for radiators and underfloor heating via a heating circuit distributor with 12 heating circuits, which heats a whopping 30 cubic metres per hour. The total heating water capacity of the system is just under 150 cubic metres.

To ensure that all future guests feel comfortable, no expense was spared on the sanitary facilities. 40 shower fittings with an automated drinking water hygiene system and 24 washbasin units were installed. In addition, 142 metres of box drains, 12 WC facilities, five urinal facilities and three barrier-free WCs were installed. The drinking water is now supplied through almost 2,200 metres of new stainless steel piping, while the waste water is drained through over 1,200 metres of drainage pipes. A high-pressure drainage system with galvanised steel pipes was installed for rainwater drainage.

Leisure fun from October 2025

The reopening of the sports area is planned for the end of October 2025. The leisure swimming area is due to follow at the end of the year and will then offer guests a comprehensively modernised swimming experience for sport, relaxation and family fun.

We are proud to have contributed to the successful realisation of this important project with our work and are delighted to soon have helped shape another modern leisure destination.
