What does a recruitment consultant do?
As a recruitment specialist, you’ll ensure that companies and employees are a good match. During your training, you’ll learn how to identify staffing needs, process applications and place employees in roles that suit their skills. You’ll organise processes relating to recruitment, employee support and payroll, and help ensure that everyone involved is well informed and satisfied.
In this role, you will take on a wide range of organisational and administrative tasks within the HR department. These include, amongst other things:
- Assessing staffing requirements, planning staff deployment
- Preparing and publishing job advertisements
- Reviewing applications and shortlisting candidates for interviews
- Communicating with applicants and clients
- Maintaining personnel files, drawing up contracts and documents
- Preparing payslips, compiling data for payroll
- Support staff and assist with queries regarding their role, contract and pay
Human resources recruitment specialists mainly work:
- at recruitment agencies and temporary employment firms
- in companies’ HR departments
- in service organisations specialising in recruitment and staff support
You will mainly work in an office, spending a lot of time on the computer and on the phone; you will be in close contact with staff and companies, and through your organisational skills you will ensure that the right people are in the right place at the right time.
