The major sporting event of the year is just around the corner. Yes, of course we all immediately think of the 2026 World Cup in the USA / Mexico / Canada, which starts tomorrow. But we mean THE major sporting event of the year in our region. That's right, it's Challenge Roth - a triathlon that is now known worldwide. Around 3,400 individual starters and 650 relay teams from over 60 nations, including top nations such as the USA, Great Britain, Australia, Spain and France, will take part in this year's competition on 5 July. So there are certainly similarities to the World Championships, only with an even more extreme individual performance from the athletes.
As with our construction sites, safety is the top priority at an event like this, regardless of any sporting success. After all, without the security and many volunteers and helpers, such a major event would not be possible and therefore no shared sense of achievement.
And that's exactly what our Eiffage Infra-Süd has done. Together with Teamchallenge GmbH, we have procured an operational drone for Kreiswasserwacht Südfranken. This modern drone enables the emergency services to react more quickly and in a more targeted manner, allowing them to better assess and secure the respective emergency situation.
The first use of the new achievement will be at Challenge Roth on 5 July 2016. Using the latest technical possibilities, the drone can recognise people and boats more quickly during search and rescue operations, for example, and its exact location can be determined and marked using a laser rangefinder , even in difficult visibility conditions. In addition, a special night scene mode offers the best conditions with full colour vision, as well as infrared and thermal imaging technology.
We are delighted to contribute to the safety of our region with this drone. We wish all the athletes at Challenge Roth every success in their sporting endeavours and all the water rescue volunteers as few missions as possible, whether at the triathlon or in their many other areas of operation. It's great that there are heroes like you - always come back safe and sound !
