Our Structural Maintenance department has been awarded the contract for the general overhaul of the B48 viaduct near Winnweiler by Landesbetrieb Mobilität Worms. The contract is worth €2,488,758.16 net. The work is scheduled to be completed between May 2026 and December 2026.
As part of the repair work on the viaduct of the Winnweiler bypass (B48) and the associated retaining structures, extensive work will be carried out to maintain and improve the transport infrastructure.
The structure consists of the viaduct (5-span box girder bridge with a total length of around 210 metres) and three connected retaining walls with lengths of around 50 metres, 70 metres and 16 metres.
The following measures, among others, are planned for the sustainable upgrading of the structure:
- Renewal of the bridge caps
- Renewal of the carriageway surface including sealing
- Installation of a new carriageway transition structure
- Installation of new railings and safety equipment
- Renewal of the bridge drains and drainage pipes
- Replacement of bearings
- Concrete repair and coating on abutments and piers
- Construction of new embankment steps and paving work on the abutments
This work will increase the durability of the Winnweiler viaduct and sustainably improve road safety on the B48.
