The Niersverband Viersen is carrying out several projects at the Mönchengladbach-Neuwerk sewage treatment works between 2022 and, it is expected, the end of 2026. The Civil Engineering Department has been commissioned to carry out the ‘Concrete and Pipework Construction’ works.
The contract comprises the following key construction works:
- Construction of secondary clarifier 8, together with the concrete construction of a pumping station, shafts and pipework (encasement of the excavation pits using sheet piling and CSM shoring; waterproofing of the lower parts of the excavation pits using underwater concrete bases anchored by micropiles)
- Construction of the shell of Blower Hall 2 as a concrete structure (prefabricated construction method)
- Construction of an elevated cable trunk line as a concrete and steel structure (deep foundations using bored piles)
