A centralised mine water treatment plant (AzGA) was built at the Ibbenbüren-Gravenhorst site in a joint venture with the WKS Group and HST Systemtechnik.

A central mine water treatment plant (AzGA) was constructed at the Ibbenbüren-Gravenhorst site in a joint venture with the WKS Group and HST Systemtechnik.

The plant was constructed in several phases:

1. Preparatory work

  • A sheet pile retaining wall was constructed and maintained until the end of the project. 3,700 m² of steel sheet piling, in lengths of between 14.0 and 15.0 metres, was installed as a temporary retaining wall.
  • Construction of a sheet pile box using the CSM (Cutter-Soil-Mix) method. The soil was excavated underwater, after which 950 m³ of underwater concrete was poured to form the base of the excavation pit.

2. Construction dewatering

  • Closed dewatering system with vertical filter wells, combined with vacuum filter lances, including water treatment prior to discharge into the Stollenbach; geodetic lift height up to 6.0 metres.

3. Civil engineering, structural engineering and transport infrastructure

  • Neutralisation tank facility with a tank volume of up to 3,600 m³.

4. Asphalt-surfaced transport infrastructure, including drainage and lighting

5. Mechanical and process engineering, including pipework and steelwork for

  • neutralisation / sedimentation / post-sedimentation
  • Demanganisation / final pH adjustment
  • Dewatering
  • Control air supply / drinking and process water supply
  • Exhaust air technology and chemical discharge area

6. Electrical and process control systems

  • Ensuring the reliability of supply for the existing plant
  • Utilisation and expansion of the existing infrastructure
  • Medium-voltage supply / centralised main energy management / decentralised low-voltage supply

7. Automation and process control technology, with a focus on

  • Staff facilities
  • Sludge treatment
  • Chemical treatment
  • Lime milk treatment
  • Communications technology
