The project partners DB InfraGO AG and DEGES have reached another milestone in the alliance project to realise the tunnel connection to the island of Fehmarn.
Together with the consortium partners Strabag AG, Johann Bunte Bauunternehmung SE & Co. KG and Ed. Züblin AG, Eiffage Infra-Nordwest GmbH has secured contract award package 2, which includes the earthworks, civil engineering and superstructure work.
The approximately 2.2 kilometre long tunnel will be built parallel to the existing Fehmarnsund Bridge and will accommodate rail and road traffic. This structure will create an important link that will sustainably strengthen both the infrastructure and mobility in the region.
The contract for the project was signed on Friday, 21 November 2025 in Hamburg. Construction is scheduled to start in 2026 once approval has been granted.
We are proud and delighted to be part of the alliance for the construction of the new Fehmarn Sound Tunnel. This project is a significant step for infrastructure development and underlines our expertise in the field of complex construction projects.
