Apprenticeship as an Office Administration Assistant

What does an office management assistant do?

As an office management assistant, you ensure that everything runs smoothly in the office. During your training, you’ll learn how to schedule appointments, process documents and prepare for meetings. You’ll spend a lot of time working on the computer, coordinating processes and helping your team to keep on top of things, even when there are lots of tasks to handle.

Information on training

In this role, you will take on a wide range of organisational and administrative tasks. These include, amongst other things:

  • planning, organising and carrying out office and administrative tasks
  • Coordinating appointments, preparing meetings and drafting minutes
  • Processing correspondence, drafting emails and letters
  • Filing documents, maintaining documents and data in the system
  • Ordering office supplies, checking deliveries and managing stock levels
  • Processing invoices and receipts, assisting with commercial transactions
  • Liaising with internal and external contacts, providing information

Office management assistants mainly work:

  • in the offices of companies, public authorities and service providers
  • in departments such as administration, human resources, accounts and project management
  • in secretarial and administrative support roles and in general administrative offices

You will mainly work in the office using a computer and the telephone, organising your team’s day-to-day work and using your organisational skills to ensure that everything runs smoothly and is well prepared and structured.

  • at least a secondary school leaving certificate
  • Organisational skills and an overview
  • Ability to work in a team and good communication skills
  • Attention to detail and a meticulous approach to work
  • Enjoyment of working with computers and interacting with people
