In Ahlen nimmt die Modernisierung unserer Kläranlage Fahrt auf.

In the first phase of construction, three impressive circular basins are currently being built: each 30 metres in diameter and up to seven metres deep into the ground. A particular challenge lies in the base slabs, which must be constructed with a 1 per cent gradient and an exceptionally high degree of flatness.

Why is this so important? Later on, a scraper fitted with a rubber lip will glide across the surface and reliably push the settled sludge into the hopper. To ensure this works smoothly, the reinforced concrete must have a precise consistency that must not slump during the concreting process.

Finally, the finishing machines ensure a perfect surface by working the concrete with millimetre precision, thereby laying the foundations for future operation.

The photographs and video show the first concrete pour for a base slab – an important milestone on the path to a modern sewage treatment plant.
