The transmission of electricity generated from renewable sources to the southern parts of the country will require the construction of several new extra-high-voltage lines.

One area of this is the Audorf-Flensburg section in the far north, for which the grid operator TenneT AG is responsible. The new overhead line pylons to be installed in this section are largely founded on piles due to the subsoil conditions. Eiffage Infra-Spezialtiefbau GmbH has been commissioned with the construction of large in-situ concrete bored piles with a diameter of 1 metre and foundation depths of up to 25 metres. The challenge is to ensure the logistics due to frequent relocation processes in a very rural environment and the prevailing subsoil conditions with a very high groundwater level.

This includes the following services:

  • 470 running metres of large in-situ concrete bored piles DU 1m, depth up to 25 m
  • Manufacture and supply 45 tonnes of bored pile reinforcement
  • 6 relocation operations between pylon locations
