Noise remediation on federal railway lines; noise barriers - Zschortau

Noise abatement on federal railways

As part of the noise abatement programme for federal railways, DB AG is planning to implement a noise abatement measure. The area where the noise barriers are to be erected is in Zschortau, a district of the municipality of Rackwitz in the district of North Saxony, Free State of Saxony, on line 6411 between Trebnitz and Leipzig.

The construction of the noise barrier is part of the works as an ‘active noise abatement measure’. The noise barrier will be constructed using highly absorbent aluminium wall elements on one or both sides, with transparent material used in certain sections. The foundation will consist of steel tube piles. Furthermore, earthworks and earthing measures are to be carried out as part of the construction. The works will be carried out predominantly using rail-bound machinery during night-time track closures.
