After the excavation pits had already been constructed using the CSM method in the first construction lot, Eiffage Infra-Nordwest Civil Engineering was now commissioned with further construction lots for the conversion of the sewage treatment plant during ongoing operation.
The sewage treatment plant, built in 1974, was designed for 310,000 inhabitants. The plant is currently operating at the limits of its capacity due to the increase in inflow loads, which is partly due to rising production by industrial companies. Reconstruction is necessary to ensure continued orderly operation and to reduce odour emissions.
The following structures of the first purification stage will be rebuilt:
- inlet structure
- 2-stage screening plant
- 2-stage aerated grit/fat trap
- 2-stage primary clarifier
- High-load biology with intermediate clarification and partial flow treatment
- Blower stations and pre-thickener
- Technical building
- Intermediate pumping station
- Discharge structure
Completion is planned for the end of 2028.
