Overcut bored pile walls and sheet pile shoring

Overlapping bored pile walls and sheet pile walls

As part of the redevelopment of the Berne system, the Emschergenossenschaft is constructing a new sewer along the upper reaches of the Berne, incorporating the new Essen-Grillostraße stormwater overflow basin. The construction site is situated on the northern edge of Essen city centre on Grillostraße. The scope of works comprises the construction of the stormwater overflow basin with a MID chamber and two outfall structures, the connecting sewer, and the junction chamber with a connection to the Grillostraße culvert. To create the excavation pit, overlapping bored pile walls and sheet pile walls will be constructed.

This includes the following works:

  • Construction of overlapping bored pile walls D = 0.90 m, depth up to 10.00 m for the stormwater overflow basin and the connecting channel
  • Watertight sheet piling, to a depth of 10.00 m in the area of the stormwater overflow basin and for shaft S_.032
  • Replacement boreholes in the area of the stormwater overflow basin for the installation of the sheet piling
  • Connections between sheet pile wall and intersecting bored pile wall
