The existing B 33 between Radolfzell and Konstanz is congested and is being widened from two to four lanes. To ease the burden on local residents and protect them from noise, the road will be routed through an approximately 1,000-metre-long tunnel, the Röhrenberg Tunnel, in the Allensbach area.
The tunnel, comprising a two-cell reinforced concrete frame and an adjacent operations building, will be constructed using the cut-and-cover method. Additional protection will be provided by shoring and noise barriers up to 6 metres high.
Our construction work will begin in mid-2024. The structural work will be completed by mid-2028, so that traffic can flow on the new carriageway by the end of 2029. To ensure that existing traffic can continue unhindered during the construction period, work will be carried out in parallel with the carriageway.
The entire project to widen and rebuild the B 33 is expected to be completed in 2034.
