What does an IT specialist in system integration do?

As an IT specialist in system integration, you ensure that IT systems and networks operate reliably. During your apprenticeship, you will learn to plan, install and configure hardware and software, as well as to support users and systems. You will analyse faults, identify errors and, by implementing appropriate solutions, ensure that everyone can work safely and efficiently.

Information on training

In this role, you will take on a wide range of technical and organisational tasks relating to IT systems. These include, amongst other things:

  • Planning, setting up and configuring IT systems and networks
  • Installing and maintaining servers, PCs, mobile devices and peripherals
  • Setting up operating systems, applications and security solutions
  • Analysing faults, identifying errors and resolving them
  • Advising users and providing support with IT queries
  • Create documentation and record system changes in a traceable manner
  • Collaborate on IT projects; test and implement new solutions

IT specialists in system integration mainly work:

  • in the IT departments of companies and public sector organisations
  • at IT service providers, system integrators and manufacturers
  • providing on-site support to users

You will spend most of your time working on a computer, but you will also work directly alongside colleagues at their workstations, using your expertise to ensure that the IT systems run smoothly, securely and sustainably in the background.

  • at least a secondary school leaving certificate or a vocational baccalaureate
  • An affinity for IT and an enthusiasm for technology
  • Problem-solving skills and logical thinking
  • Very good technical understanding
  • A meticulous, responsible approach to work and the ability to work as part of a team
