At our construction site at BW 11-2, where the B173 is being built across the Main and the Bamberg–Hof railway line, preparations are in full swing for the first movement of Span 80 towards the Lichtenfels carriageway. Our steelwork partner SEH is currently welding the next components, whilst we have, in parallel, form-worked the abutment and even poured the concrete last week. Since then , we ’ve been carrying out formwork for the carriageway slab. The first concrete pour is scheduled for calendar weeks 36/37 and is set to continue on a weekly basis thereafter💪.

Wedding 2.0:

Yes, romantic occasions are celebrated in the construction industry too😍. There will even be two ‘weddings’ on our BW 11-2. In bridge construction, the term ‘wedding’ is used when two sections of a steel structure, which have been gradually pushed in from opposite sides using the incremental launching method , meet precisely in the middle and the gap is closed. However, this ‘saying of “I do”’ can sometimes take a very long time (approx. 1–2 weeks), as the advance jib is gradually dismantled during this process and the two sections have to be aligned with one another . The first ‘ceremony’ took place in the summer of 2025; the second is planned for the turn of the year 2026/2027. Currently, the first half of this section has already been pushed into place.

We wish everyone involved in the project continued success and an accident-free construction period🍀.
