3, 2, 1... Final sprint!

At our Flembach Bridge , there’s (almost) no sign of the building site any more, because after the countdown to the closure break began last week, we’re already in the final stretch. The final stretch – already? Don’t worry, you’ve done the maths right: we’re only in week 8 of the road closure, and the target is to go from demolition to reopening to traffic in 10 weeks. But with our bridge-building team, nothing surprises us anymore – which makes us all the more impressed👏.

After the caps were concreted last Monday , we then began removing the formwork. In addition, the sub-base was completed in the area where the abutments are being backfilled , so that the asphalt laying can begin. The kerbs that have been set in place and the installed handrails ensure safety and order👍 .

Yesterday, the base and binder courses of the asphalt were laid, so that the surface course can follow today.

This leaves only some finishing work for next week, namely the installation of the crash barriers and the mastic asphalt gutter, as well as the road marking work. And then it’s time to say🥁: “3, 2, 1… road closure over!”

We wisheveryone involved in the project a successful and accident-free final push🍀and are already looking forward to the moment when the traffic warden arrives and clears away the last traffic cones – goosebumpsguaranteed🦆. A little spoiler: we won’t have to wait until our next update – in fact, Flembach Bridge Day next week might not even be on a Friday anymore🙃.
