This new sports hall and associated institute building will be located at the heart of the Chemnitz University of Technology campus.
In July 2021, the bidding consortium Eiffage Infra-Ost and Eiffage Infra-Spezialtiefbau was awarded the contract for the foundation of a new sports hall at Chemnitz University of Technology.
Eiffage Infra Ost is building the bored pile foundation for the structure together with Eiffage Infra Spezialtiefbau.
In the approx. 4000 m² excavation pit, around 13,000 tonnes of RC material was first installed to fill the excavation pit. The drilling level was then prepared for the specialised foundation engineering.
The foundation of the building shell consists of pile cap beams, which stand on 170 bored piles. Due to the tight schedule, the latter were completed using the VdW method with a turnaround time of up to 20 minutes.
The complete foundation of the sports hall was completed in around 8 weeks.
