We set standards for track renewal in Scandinavia

This summer, Eiffage Infra-Nordic launched another ambitious project: the renewal of a 68 km long railway line including ballast cleaning for the Nordic Railway Construction Group. The project will run from the beginning of May to the beginning of August 2025 and not only exemplifies our technical expertise, but also our ability to respond flexibly and innovatively to complex challenges.

A line with history
The project includes the traditional Köping-Uttersberg-Riddarhyttan railway line, which is deeply rooted in Swedish industrial history. Opened at the end of the 19th century, the line once played a key role in transporting iron ore and timber from the heart of Bergslagen to the harbour town of Köping. Today, it is still an important link for freight and regional transport - connecting communities, strengthening the regional infrastructure and supporting the local economy.

Precision meets heavy engineering
With a project volume of SEK 94 million (around €8.4 million), careful planning and precise work preparation are crucial. Our teams coordinate the use of heavy machinery and ensure that track renewal, ballast cleaning and tamping work are seamlessly integrated. Every phase of the project - from logistics to adherence to strict safety protocols - is meticulously coordinated.
The particular challenge lies in the complexity of the project: the work is divided into several sections, each with its own scope and individual requirements. Construction times extend throughout the day, which means that our teams have to switch flexibly between day and night shifts during the course of the project. This dynamic schedule requires a high level of resilience, the ability to react quickly and a strong team spirit.

Safety first - even on bridges
Special attention is paid to work on bridges, which entail additional safety requirements. Our teams consistently apply strict safety measures to protect both the environment and the working environment. With special equipment and targeted training, we ensure that the project is realised to the highest safety standards and in a sustainable manner.

A growing market - a promising future
The markets for railway infrastructure in Sweden and Norway are developing rapidly. With the successful realisation of this project, Eiffage Infra-Nordic is not only strengthening its position as a reliable partner in the region, but is also establishing itself as a pioneer in a dynamically growing future market.
