Bergpark Lohberg in Dinslaken opened its doors to the public at the end of October 2014 with a public festival, which Eiffage Infra-West realised as one of the milestones in the major Kreativ.Quartier Lohberg project - the KQL - for the client RAG and the city of Dinslaken.
The Borken-based construction company has already redeveloped a number of previously industrially utilised and often contaminated sites and made them ready for construction. The Dinslakener Bergpark now integrates the former colliery slag heaps as landmarks, play areas and the newly created Lohberger Weiher pond. This will collect rainwater from the central area of the KQL and the industrial estate. Not as a bathing pond, but as a tangible water resource with lake pavilions and shore terraces, it will invite people to linger.
The lakeside terraces form the transition to the Bergpark. In order to construct them, the civil engineers renovated and reinstalled the ground, took care of the fine levelling, the necessary base and surface layers and almost 17,000 square metres of water-bound surface. Steps and walls were built along the lakeside promenade as well as on the grass steps and at the water tower viewing point.
The Bergpark is one of several projects that Eiffage Infra-West has been realising at the site since 2013. These include earthworks and drainage work including infiltration basins, two rainwater retention basins made of in-situ concrete and the surface sealing of the Lohberger Weiher using an asphalt construction method.
