Crossing the Main-Danube Canal

In the area of the harbour in the south of Nuremberg, a multi-sector supply culvert was built that crosses both the jetty for river cruise ships and the Main-Danube Canal. Despite the high water pressure, the AVND 1600 machine had no problems with the depth of almost 20 metres. Even the Nuremberg sandstone, which is known to be very abrasive with its particularly hard quarry layers, was no match for the specially selected cutting tools. The installed reinforced concrete jacking pipes now serve as protective pipes for various sectors, such as drinking water and electricity, over a length of 220 metres.
