Eiffage Infra-Nordwest is modernising the largest of three wastewater treatment plants in Marl-West

Three wastewater treatment plants in Marl together treat more than 7.6 million cubic metres of wastewater every year. Multi-stage, intensive purification is necessary so that this water can flow back into streams and rivers.

The Lippeverband is currently upgrading the technology at all three sites. Renovation work on wastewater treatment plants must take place during ongoing operations, as the plants are indispensable and the purification process cannot be stopped.

Eiffage Infra-Nordwest is modernising the largest of the three wastewater treatment plants in Marl-West. The plant was built in 1964 and extensively renovated in 1993.

A new primary clarifier with a diameter of 19.80 metres and a central structure (Königsstuhl) with a diameter of 4.0 metres, which is embedded 7.10 metres deep into the ground, is now to be built. The old primary clarifier will be replaced by a more efficient tank, which will increase the treatment capacity of the sewage treatment plant. Due to the good condition of the old tank, it can be integrated into the sludge treatment system without any major technical modifications.
