The city of Bochum, represented by the Youth Welfare Office as the client, has responded to the increasing demand for daycare places with a new extension to the existing building in Nörenbergskamp. Connected to the main building, two large group rooms including adjoining rooms with children's kitchens, a multi-purpose room and two child-friendly washrooms and toilets were created on a new construction area of approx. 400m2.
A new kitchen facility including a ventilation system was installed in the old building. The existing media structure with waste water, water and heat supply, including a gas condensing boiler, was adapted and supplemented to meet the necessary requirements in line with the state of the art. All supply lines were fitted with stainless steel pipes. Underfloor heating is used to distribute heat in the new building.
The city of Bochum places particular emphasis on water hygiene in the day-care centres it looks after. In this respect, a special hygiene concept has been implemented in this facility. This involves data-supported, electronically equipped washbasins, kitchens and shower taps being connected to a water management system that regulates, carries out and monitors the necessary hygiene flushing measures. This ensures that the necessary water quality is always produced at the relevant taps. Hot water is generally produced via individual electric instantaneous water heaters in order to avoid stagnant water and hot water storage.
The overall performance of the construction project included
- Drainage of waste water
- Drinking water supply including installation of all sanitary facilities
- Heat distribution via central heating distributor in the technical centre
- Heat distribution for the entire new building project with underfloor heating
- Control technology for heat generation
- Control technology for water hygiene
