In Wesseling, Eiffage Infra-Bau is realising an underground reinforced concrete rainwater retention basin with a volume of around 5,400 m³. In addition, a floodable earth basin is being built as an additional retention area to retain rainwater in a controlled manner during heavy rainfall.
The project also includes
- a new stormwater drainage structure,
- a combined sewer as a connection to the existing storage sewer,
- modern mechanical and electrical engineering, including high-performance pumping systems to return the backed-up mixed water to the municipal sewerage system.
The measure makes an important contribution to sustainable flood protection and a future-proof urban drainage infrastructure.
