As part of the refurbishment of the north-west interchange in Frankfurt am Main, all 6 caps on the structure as well as the entire waterproofing and the asphalt surface were renewed.
In addition, the chamber wall at the Frankfurt abutment was demolished at a height of 3.20 metres and rebuilt. This was carried out with an open excavation pit, which was secured with small bored piles and ductile cast iron piles.
Due to the expansion path of the structure, the transition structure was constructed as a noise-reduced bridge1 with sinusoidal slabs.
Several temporary structures had to be constructed for the complex traffic routing, including a backfilled ramp with a volume of approx. 400 m³, which was removed again after the project was completed.
The entire refurbishment had to be carried out in six sections due to the heavy traffic load on the structure.
