Next week, things will "heat up" again on our Vilstal bridge. This time not because of the sweltering summer heat, as was the case when the second abutment was concreted at the beginning of July (we reported), but because the superstructure is due to be concreted. A very special event for our project team, because contrary to the official design, the superstructure will not be constructed with a coupling joint, but by realising our special solution in a one concrete walkway👏.

This means that almost 1,300 m³ of concrete is poured in around 15 hours. Three pumps were used, which required a sophisticated logistics concept. Due to the river valley and the resulting limited access options, logistics posed one of the biggest challenges💪.

After successful concreting, the prestressing is applied and the shoring is lowered in accordance with the tensioning plan. Most of the shoring will have been dismantled by the end of the year, after which the waterproofing and installation of the caps will follow in the spring.

Exciting times on our Vilstal Bridge: We are already looking forward to lots of great pictures of the large-scale concreting work and perhaps also to the odd bridge romance breaking through the autumn mist in the morning hours😍. First of all, you can see the construction progress of the last few weeks.

We wish everyone involved every success and an accident-free construction period.
