A celebration took place on Monday 23 September to mark De Romein Group and Eiffage Infra-Bau Joint Venture signing the TSO Amprion GmbH contract for the Civil Engineering of the Rhein-Main-Link contract.
The ‘team spirit’ in which the contract will be both operated and delivered was demonstrated through project bespoke football shirts; worn by representatives of De Romein, Eiffage and Amprion.
De Romein and Eiffage were awarded by Amprion for the civil engineering of the infrastructure needed to transport electricity produced by offshore wind farms in the North Sea to the Rhein-Main region in southern Germany.
The contract involves the creation of an energy corridor from Lower Saxony to the economic region of Hesse by building a 600-kilometre cable conduit system.
De Romein and Eiffage will now enter into the detailed design phase, carried out in collaboration with Amprion, with work commencing on the ground in 2028, and continuing through to 2032.
