Ground-breaking ceremony in Brand with prominent support

Bavaria's Minister of Construction and Transport, Christian Bernreiter, gave the official go-ahead for the renewal of the state road 2181 between Brand and Mehlmeißel on 9 May 2025. The construction project comprises two construction phases: Firstly, the Fuhrbach bridge will be renewed by the end of this year , for which we have been commissioned. This will be followed by the renewal of the carriageway in spring 2026, which is expected to be completed in summer 2027.

The aim of the overall project is to improve the road connection between the Upper Palatinate and the popular "Fichtelgebirge" tourist region in Upper Franconia. The existing traffic conditions will be significantly improved by eliminating blind crests and unsteady bends and by renewing the carriageway. In addition, the cross-section of the bridge over the Fuhrbach will be enlarged to improve permeability for wild animals.

"With this construction project, we are not only creating a safe and modern transport link, but also making a contribution to nature conservation," emphasised Minister of State Bernreiter during the ceremony. "We are investing in infrastructure to ensure the mobility of people in the region. Rural areas in particular are dependent on good connections. This helps tourism and the economy as well as local people."

After all, whether over busy motorways, imposing bridges or in a tranquil format: construction connects people.

We are proud of our team and wish everyone involved every success and an accident-free construction period.
