The existing B 33 between Radolfzell and Constance is overloaded with traffic and is being widened from two to four lanes. In order to relieve the population and protect them from noise, the road in the Allensbach area is being routed into an approx. 1,000 metre long tunnel, the Röhrenberg tunnel.

The tunnel, as a two-cell reinforced concrete frame, and an adjoining operations building are being built using the cut-and-cover method. Additional protection will be provided by shoring and noise barriers up to 6 metres high.

Our construction activities will begin in mid-2024 and the shell will be completed by mid-2028 so that traffic can flow on the new carriageway at the end of 2029. To ensure that existing traffic can be maintained without restriction during the construction period, construction will take place parallel to the carriageway.

Completion of the overall project to widen and rebuild the B 33 is expected in 2034.
